Masako Horino is a Public Health Research Specialist and nutrition epidemiologist working with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). In her time at UNRWA, Masako has led the development and implementation of a research agenda to evaluate and scale up antenatal multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) as a replacement for iron-folic acid in Palestine refugee communities in Jordan. This work has informed the expansion of MMS programs for pregnant refugees across the Middle East region.
Masako is a Registered Dietitian accredited by the Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition in the United States. She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Doctorate of Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
