I am a third-year Nutritional Biology PhD Candidate in Dr. Slupsky's Lab at UC Davis. My research is part of PIG-PARADIGM, a cross-institutional and interdisciplinary antimicrobial resistance project aimed at enhancing intestinal robustness and resilience in developing piglets through nutrition to reduce antibiotic usage in commercial pig production. Specifically, I am investigating the impact of a maternal diet intervention using nopal (prickly pear cactus) on piglet outcomes during the pre- and post-weaning phases of development. Beyond this work, I am passionate about translational research and am actively developing my expertise in metabolomics and metagenomics with the goal of applying these approaches to human-focused research.
