Dr. Michael (Mike) Gore is a professor of molecular breeding and genetics for nutritional quality and the Liberty Hyde Bailey professor at Cornell University, where he is the Section Head of Plant Breeding and Genetics in the School of Integrative Plant Science. Mike is also a faculty fellow in the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future and the Cornell Institute for Food Systems. He holds a BS and MS from Virginia Tech, and a PhD from Cornell University. His expertise is in the field of quantitative genetics and genomics, especially the genetic dissection of metabolic seed traits related to nutritional quality. He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Crop Science Society of America in 2022 and awarded the Public Sector Plant Breeding Impact Award from the National Association for Plant Breeding in 2024.
