Dan Bessesen M.D. is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at The University of Colorado, School of Medicine. Dr. Bessesen received his MD degree and completed internal medicine residency and endocrine fellowship training at the University of Colorado. He sees patients at Denver Health Medical Center where he was Head of the Section of Endocrinology for 20 years. He is currently the Associate Director of the NIH-funded Nutrition Obesity Research Center and oversees the Pilot and Feasibility Program for the NORC. He is also the Director of the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Colorado, School of Medicine and is the Fellowship Program Director for the Colorado Obesity Medicine Fellowship Program. He is a past president of the Obesity Society. Dr. Bessesen has published more than 130 scientific articles and co-edited 4 textbooks on the treatment of obesity. His research has focused on the regulation of body weight and the treatment of obesity
