Dr. Astiazaran-García has extensive experience in biomedical research and experimental nutrition. His research areas include micronutrient deficiencies, nutrition and breast cancer, and the evaluation of the beneficial properties of functional foods. He has conducted research using both biological models and human volunteers (translational research), under the rigorous review of the corresponding Institutional Ethics Committees (IECs). In some cases, he has employed biochemical, nuclear, or molecular techniques. He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico.
