Dr. Rafaela G. Feresin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Georgia State University, with joint appointments in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, where she also directs the Ph.D. program in Chemistry (Nutritional Sciences). Her research focuses on the molecular and clinical mechanisms through which dietary bioactive compounds influence cardiometabolic and cognitive health, with particular emphasis on hypertension, obesity, diabetes, vascular function, inflammation, oxidative stress, and the gut microbiota. She leads an interdisciplinary translational research program that integrates molecular biology, mechanistic studies, and randomized clinical trials to identify evidence-based nutritional strategies for the prevention and management of cardiometabolic disorders.

Dr. Feresin has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple honors recognizing her contributions to nutritional science, including the American Society for Nutrition's Mary Swartz Young Investigator Award, the Georgia State University Mid-Career Award for Contributions to Health Sciences, and multiple Outstanding Research Mentor awards. She serves on the American Society for Nutrition Scientific Program Committee and the leadership of the Dietary Bioactive Components (DBC) Research Interest Section (RIS), and was recently elected to the ASN Board of Directors as Director-at-Large, Nutrition Science Mechanisms. Through her research, mentorship, and professional leadership, Dr. Feresin is committed to advancing translational nutrition science and fostering the next generation of nutrition researchers.
