Yelyzaveta (Lisa) Minaieva is a recent nutrition graduate from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. During her undergraduate studies, she explored diverse areas of nutrition research. Her first research experience examined the relationship between environmental arsenic exposure and diabetes-related biomarkers, which sparked her interest in this field. She later joined the Global Food Research Program (GFRP), where she investigated the U.S. food environment through the lens of food policy and culture. At GFRP, Lisa completed her honors thesis on trends in portion sizes over time—the research she is presenting—and currently works as a research assistant, preparing the project for publication. She hopes to continue pursuing a career in global nutrition research, with a special interest in dietary patterns, consumer behavior, and policy interventions.
