Toba A. Omotosho, MSc (he/him/his)

Toba Alao Omotosho is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University and a member of Dr. Jun Zou's research laboratory. His research focuses on the relationship between dietary bioactive compounds, gut health, inflammation, and chronic diseases, including obesity and diabetes.
Toba was the recipient of an Erasmus+ Student Learning Mobility Scholarship at the University of Jaén, Spain, where he gained research experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and nutritional sciences. He earned his M.S. in Biology from Georgia State University. Throughout his academic career, he has contributed to studies investigating the effects of berry-rich diets and other plant-derived bioactive compounds on gut health under the mentorship of Dr. Rafaela Feresin. He has presented his research at regional and national scientific meetings, including the American Society for Nutrition Annual Meeting and the Georgia Life Sciences Conference.
Passionate about biomedical nutrition research, Toba aims to identify microbiota-based biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases.
