Dr. Angad Yadav is a Research Scientist Senior in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), working under Dr. Anna E. Thalacker-Mercer. His research investigates how nutrient and metabolic factors including serine, glycine, glutamine, and vitamin B12, regulate skeletal muscle progenitor cell function and epigenetic control during aging and muscle regeneration. He is supported by an NIH/NIA R01 grant examining the role of serine and glycine in skeletal muscle regeneration, and his first-author work in the American Journal of Physiology–Cell Physiology showed that glutamine deficiency disrupts epigenetic regulation and impairs myogenesis. Dr. Yadav has received several honors for his research, including a Communication Award at the 2025 Advances in Skeletal Muscle Biology Conference and a Travel Award from FASEB's 2024 Nutrient Sensing and Signaling in Metabolism conference. He is a member of the American Society for Nutrition and the American Physiological Society.
