Addressing the complex underlying causes of diet-related chronic diseases and conditions requires a multilevel, multicomponent approach, particularly for those communities and populations most impacted. To this end, federal agencies such as NIH, CDC, and USDA have an increasing focus on multilevel dietary interventions. This collaborative “Connect with the Fed” session will highlight federally funded research and programs supporting multilevel nutrition interventions in a variety of settings and age groups. Highlighted funded programs and research will range from innovative interventions in urban and rural communities and school-based obesity prevention programs to food is medicine initiatives in the clinical setting. The interactive session will end with a panel discussion including the highlighted researchers and federal partners from NIH, CDC, and USDA. Speakers will discuss intervention effectiveness, potential research gaps and challenges and lessons learned from implementing multilevel nutrition interventions. Federal representatives will answer questions regarding the respective agencies’ interest and existing programs and initiatives to support this type of work.
