Shelia Denise Newton, BSN, RN, is a retired nurse with more than 32 years of clinical experience in patient care, mentoring, and interdisciplinary teamwork across diverse healthcare settings. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition in December 2025, where she focused on improving nutrition education for healthcare professionals and students.
Her current project, Evaluation of Nutritional Knowledge in a Cohort of Nursing Students in Arkansas, examines nursing students’ knowledge of fundamental nutrition concepts and identifies areas where additional educational support may be beneficial.
Shelia’s work reflects her long-standing dedication to patient-centered care and evidence-based education. Through her research, she aims to strengthen nutrition education in nursing curricula and help prepare future nurses to deliver more informed, confident, and effective nutrition-related care.
