Rae's mission is to use genetics guided biofortification of staple crops to combat food insecurity and nutrient deficiency. She is now getting a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at Colorado State University in the Rhodes lab studying iron and zinc biofortification in sorghum. Previously, she acquired a BS at Purdue University in Agronomy with a concentration in Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology in 2022 with additional focus on statistics. She also attended CSU for a masters in Horticulture in the Rhodes Lab studying the genetic controls of carotenoid bioavailability in sorghum grain.
