Tanya has 25+ years’ experience as a public health nutritionist (MSc LSHTM) spanning university research contexts, INGOs, Valid International, the UN, UK government, and as an independent consultant. She has worked in multiple countries, including Angola, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
Driven by a desire to better shape and translate research into doable, effective and equitable programmes, Tanya was an integral member of the research team responsible for developing Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and then supported the uptake of the approach in countries in Africa and Asia whilst based in UNICEF. She subsequently broadened her focus, developing a number of technical reviews, exploring neglected areas in international nutrition, including maternal and adolescent nutrition, the relationship between wasting and stunting, and wasting prevention, always highlighting key opportunities for improvements in programming and policy.
Tanya joined ENN as a Technical Director in 2017 leading ENN’s body of work on the relationship between Wasting and Stunting, and overseeing emerging areas for ENN such as nutrition sensitive food systems and climate.
