Teresa Shufflebarger, MSHA, MBA, is a career healthcare executive who has worked in multihospital systems with focused efforts in business and service line development and strategy creation and deployment. She began her career with The Baptist Health System where she worked in various roles of increasing responsibility including inpatient and outpatient operations, business development, physician recruitment, and strategic planning. She served as Chief Strategy Officer for the joint ventured Brookwood Baptist Health and was responsible for strategy, business development, and growth for the five hospitals. In 2019, she founded a strategy and management consulting firm, Allegro Partners, LLC, dedicated to promoting meaningful, interactive, and collaborative partnerships between executive leadership, governing board members, and key constituents.

In 2021, Teresa accepted the role of Chief Administrative Officer of Live HealthSmart Alabama, a health initiative seed funded by UAB to reduce the incidence of chronic disease in Alabama. Fostering over 100 public and private partnerships, LHSA is addressing food access, preventive health screenings, physical activity and education to support making good health simple. With meaningful built environment improvements in communities as a foundation to achieving better health, LHSA implements programs and services to support community members achieving improved health status. Under her direction, LHSA has two mobile markets that have provided healthy food options to over 17,000 residents in over 40 food insecure communities and three cities, Birmingham, Selma, and Demopolis. Two mobile wellness vans have been the anchor to a preventive health strategy that provides easily accessible free health screenings, with over 8,000 participants screened, 15% of those screened are diagnosed with a previously undetected chronic disease. LHSA’s Community Coach program connects community members to appropriate healthcare interventions, with over 900 participants connected to their next appropriate healthcare. With additional funding from UAB and significant grants from Novo Nordisk and other funders, LHSA has launched its playbook in Selma, Demopolis, Camden, Dothan, and now, Montgomery. LHSA is expanding its programming across Alabama.
