Maryam Seifishahpar is a postdoctoral research associate in the Nutrigenomics, Inflammation & One Health Research (NIOR) Laboratory at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, working under the mentorship of Dr. Naima Moustaid-Moussa. She began her training in nutritional sciences in Iran, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran.
Her master’s research focused on clinical nutrition, examining the effects of multispecies probiotic supplementation on inflammatory markers and migraine characteristics in adults. Following completion of her master’s degree, she worked for two years as a nutrition consultant, providing dietary counseling to individuals with chronic diseases.
She completed her doctoral training in Nutritional Sciences at Texas Tech University, where her research examined the effects of tart cherry and fish oil supplementation on inflammation and gut microbiota in mouse models. As a postdoctoral researcher, she continues to study obesity-associated inflammation and gut microbiota, with a focus on dietary bioactive compounds.
