Aishat Gambari, MPH, is a PhD candidate in the Nutrition & Health Sciences program at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. Her research focuses on maternal-child health and nutrition, with an emphasis on developing equity‑centered strategies to promote breastfeeding and strengthen lactation‑supportive practices and policies across health systems and communities. She is particularly committed to addressing structural and social barriers that limit equitable breastfeeding support for underserved, marginalized, and minoritized populations.
Aishat has a strong foundation in the biological sciences, specialized training in global health, and years of qualitative and quantitative research experience. Her recent work includes a quantitative analysis of national survey data and two community‑engaged studies to examine breastfeeding intentions, practices and determinants of exclusive breastfeeding among immigrant and refugee mothers in Clarkston. These studies identified culturally grounded strategies to strengthen breastfeeding support within immigrant and refugee communities.
