Euisun “Irene” Pyo, PhD, MPH, recently completed her PhD in Nutrition and Health Sciences at Emory University and previously served as a Research Scientist with the California Department of Public Health’s Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Her research focuses on child nutrition, obesity prevention, and monitoring and evaluation of nutrition interventions. Grounded in behavioral science, implementation science, and theory-driven analytical approaches, she examines the multilevel factors that shape dietary behaviors and health outcomes among children and families across diverse populations. Working in both domestic and global health settings, she integrates evidence from clinical, community, and population-based studies to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition programs and policies. Through her work, she seeks to generate actionable evidence that supports effective, equitable, and sustainable approaches to improving child health and nutrition. Outside of research, Irene enjoys going on adventures with her husband and toddler, discovering good food, and pursuing creative hobbies such as watercolor painting and Polaroid photography.
