I am a second-year PhD student in Nutrition at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Before joining UMass Amherst, I was studying functional foods and their effects on chronic diseases at Jiangnan University in China, where I earned my master’s degree. I am currently a member of Dr. Zhenhua Liu’s laboratory, where my research focuses on how nutritional interventions during critical developmental periods may reduce the risk of early-onset cancers, particularly breast cancer. My work uses microRNA profiling to investigate the lasting molecular effects of dietary alterations on the gut microbiome, metabolism, and the mammary microenvironment. I also use MMTV-ErbB2 transgenic mouse models to evaluate the effects of dietary interventions on the development of spontaneous mammary tumors. Most recently, I published a review article examining the relationship between early-life nutrition and the risk of early-onset breast cancer.
