Melissa Melough is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition Science at the University of Delaware. She received her BS in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University, completed the dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and earned a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut. She also completed postdoctoral training in environmental epidemiology at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. As a nutritional and environmental epidemiologist, she examines dietary sources and health effects of environmental contaminants, as well as nutritional strategies to mitigate associated harms. Her research spans the lifespan, with a particular focus on maternal and child health and how exposures during pregnancy and early life influence long-term health. Dr. Melough is also an investigator in the NIH-funded Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Program.
