Sushma Nepal is a PhD candidate in the Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Nutrition at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on diet-associated microbial patterns in cancer prevention and survivorship, particularly among patients with colorectal cancer. Her dissertation integrates nutritional epidemiology, microbiome science, and biostatistical methods to examine how inflammatory and insulinemic dietary patterns are associated with gut and tumor microbiomes and cancer outcomes. She works with clinical, dietary, and multi-omics data, including stool 16S rRNA sequencing and tumor RNA-seq microbial profiling. Her broader interests include precision nutrition, cancer survivorship, and microbiome-based approaches to understanding the biological links between diet and cancer progression.
