The Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH) study, powered by the All of Us Research Program, is studying how individual people respond to different foods to ultimately understand if a personalized diet can help improve health and prevent chronic disease. The All of Us Research Program is a large effort to accelerate health research and medical breakthroughs, and to support the development of individualized prevention, treatment, and care for all of us.
As the first ancillary study to All of Us, the NPH study collects new data and leverages the rich data already being collected in All of Us. These combined data are available on the All of Us Researcher Workbench, a secure, cloud-based platform where researchers can access and analyze the All of Us dataset.
This workshop will introduce participants to the scientific goals and design of the NPH study, approaches to data curation, preparation of AI-ready data, and use of the Researcher Workbench. Through hands-on activities, participants will learn how to begin working with the available data to address research questions. Topics will include navigating All of Us, creating a workspace, generating initial descriptive statistics, and producing preliminary data visualizations.
A working knowledge of R is recommended. Participants should bring a laptop to fully engage in the interactive activities. Prior to the workshop, registered participants will be asked to complete a brief survey to help tailor the content to their statistical background and experience.
