Dr. Joanne Slavin is a Professor in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. She is also the Owner and Manager of the Slavin Sisters Farm LLC in Walworth, WI which rents 72 acres of farmland and receives CRP payments from USDA. She has published and spoken extensively on dietary fiber, whole grains, animal and plant proteins, dietary guidance, food processing, and sustainable agriculture. She is particularly proud of the more than 95 graduate students in Food Science and Nutrition she has completed at the University of Minnesota and the thousands of students who have inspired her in undergraudate foods and nutrition courses. Her original appointment at the University of Minnesota was 100% Etension and she continues to enjoy answering media and consumer questions on foods and nutrition.
