Lorena Macias-Navarro, MSc, is a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. She currently serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Healthy Communities, where her work focuses on advancing Food is Medicine and Culinary Medicine initiatives, including research supporting the Harris Health System Produce Prescription program. Her research explores how nutrition interventions, behavioral science, and digital health tools can improve diet quality and health outcomes in underserved communities.
Lorena holds an MSc in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition from the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and a BSc in Food Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico. At UTHealth Houston, she founded the university’s first student-led cycling club, RIDE, and is a recipient of the Dr. Lawrence E. Lamb Scholarship Award.
