Dr. Srivatsan (Sri) Kidambi is Director of the NIH Standardized Organoid Modeling (SOM) Center at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he leads NIH-wide efforts to develop standardized, scalable, and AI/ML-enabled organoid and human-relevant New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) infrastructure. He is a bioengineer and translational scientist recognized for advancing organoids, microphysiological systems, biomaterials, and precision medicine technologies toward regulatory and translational applications. Prior to joining NIH, Dr. Kidambi held research and industry positions, including at Hitachi Chemical Research Center (Irvine, CA), where he worked on advanced biomaterials and translational technologies. He later served for 14 years as a tenured faculty member in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering and MS in Chemistry from Michigan State University and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kidambi has secured over $125M in research funding as PI/Co-PI, published 80+ peer-reviewed articles, holds six patents, founded a biotechnology startup, and contributes to global standards efforts through the ISSCR Consortium and ISO committees focused on organoids and microphysiological systems. Dr. Kidambi is recognized for translating scientific vision into scalable programs that deliver measurable impact at the intersection of innovation, execution, and regulatory science.
