Dr. Carrie McMahon worked for nearly 23 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), within what is now the Human Foods Program. At FDA, she specialized in the safety and regulation of GRAS substances, food additives, and bioengineered food. In April 2025, Dr. McMahon left federal service to launch a new career as a consultant and educator. This transition has allowed her to pursue what she enjoys most: sharing her expertise to help others make good decisions around the food they eat, sell, or regulate. Because good decisions start with good information.
