Dr. Jee Yeon Hong is a Research Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Hanyang University College of Medicine, Republic of Korea. Her research operates at the intersection of nutritional epidemiology, food systems environmental assessment, and sustainable diet development, with a specific focus on mitigating the "nutrition-environment paradox". She holds a PhD in Preventive Medicine, alongside an MS and a BS in Food and Nutrition from Hanyang University, and completed a professional programme in ESG Compliance, Energy Law & Policy at Seoul National University School of Law. Dr. Hong is the developer of FS-GHGEF-D, a proprietary food systems greenhouse gas emission factor database covering approximately 3,900 food items. She has published eight SCI first-author papers in prominent journals, including Environmental Health Perspectives, British Journal of Nutrition, and International Journal of Epidemiology.
As an active leader in her field, she serves as the Principal Investigator for a five-year NRF-funded Sejong Science Fellowship project (2024–2029). Beyond academia, Dr. Hong is an ESG Advisory Committee member for the Gyeonggi Province Agri-Food Agency and the founder of S.I.K.G.U., a food-tech startup about to commercialize the CARBITE B2B SaaS platform for integrated carbon footprint and nutritional density scoring. She holds professional licenses as a Registered Dietitian and Sanitation Officer, and is scheduled for a visiting research stay at the University of Helsinki starting in mid-2027.
