Sarah Alver is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Epidemiology Program at Fred Hutch. She received her PhD in Statistics from the University of New Mexico in May of 2022, after working several years in clinical settings as a Registered Dietitian. She joined Fred Hutch in June of 2022 under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Kaplan and has been supported through a T32 training program led by Drs. Amanda Phipps and Christopher Li since December 2023. Her research focuses on the relationship of diet and physical activity with chronic diseases including diabetes, heart disease, and gastrointestinal and obesity-related cancers. She also studies the role of the gut microbiome and metabolomics in the lifestyle-chronic disease association.
